Loss Assessing

Brosnan Quantity Surveyors act on behalf of residential and business policyholders who have suffered loss or damage arising out of an insured event. We take care of the compilation, preparation, negotiation and settlement of insurance claims. We engage directly with Insurers and their representatives taking away the stress and strain from the policyholder.

Why hire a Loss Assessor
In the event of a claim, Insurance companies do not inform policyholders of their full entitlements and may use a Loss Adjuster to look after their interests. Coupled with this Insurance policies can be complex in their wording. As a result, in order to guarantee you are fully indemnified under your policy you need a qualified and regulated Loss Assessor. At Brosnan Quantity Surveyors we utilise our knowledge and expertise in the fields of construction costs, construction technology and insurance policy wordings to ensure you are not left to bear any costs.

What Brosnan Quantity Surveyors will do for you

What to do in the event of a claim
In the event of a claim, call your Insurance company and report the loss. Contact Brosnan Quantity Surveyors 24/7 to arrange a free site visit without obligation. We will then visit the property to establish if the claim is covered under the policy, and if so ascertain what the value of the claim may be.

What makes Brosnan Quantity Surveyors different

Some companies core function is to offer Loss Assessing services only. However, as Chartered Quantity Surveyors we believe we can offer more for our Clients:

  • As Quantity Surveyors we are professionally qualified in the areas of Construction Costs and Technology
  • We do not need to engage other parties to establish the value of large losses
  • We can call upon a of network of builders and tradesmen to repair any damage that may be caused to your property
  • Should you wish to engage your own builder to carry out the works we can establish if you are getting value for money from the outset
  • We can supervise the works to ensure they are carried out to the highest standards

How much does the service cost

Our initial site inspection is free and without obligation. If the claim is covered under the policy and our service is sought the amount of our service is charged as a percentage of the loss incurred. We have established a fee scale which is available on request.

Insurance Cover Assessment

A common misconception amongst policyholders is that the reinstatement (building sum insured) cost is the same as the market value. As a result, homes/properties may not be correctly insured. If the property is over insured you may be paying more than you actually need to. Conversely, if the property is under insured it may be subject to what is known as the ‘average clause’ whereby any settlement in the event of a claim is settled as a proportion of the sum insured against what the property should actually be insured for.

In order to overcome this issue and ensure your property is more accurately insured, Brosnan Quantity Surveyors can use our construction cost database to ascertain the correct building sum insured.
